What is procrastination and get rid if that?

I will become an IAS officer.
For that, I need the best books available in the market.
I need to be enrolled in the best training institute.
I need the advice of a few successful candidates.
I need a separate room in my house.
It must have a comfortable study table and an Airconditioner.
I must have the fastest wi-fi and the best laptop to study.
I must take a week's break and enjoy the fullest before I start my preparations.
It's too late now I will plan for the “holiday” tomorrow.
In the meanwhile, a poor auto driver's daughter was studying under street lamp from torn second-hand books at 3 am in the morning.

Procrastination starts from-
  1. Putting conditions on a particular task.
  2. From the lack of urgency and non-compulsive nature of an activity.
  3. From the thought of having a perfect environment to do something.
  4. The wait for the perfect moment (which never comes)
  5. The thought of undervaluing the present moment.
  6. Fear of failures or facing complexities.

How can you prevent it?
  1. Make a checklist of all the activities you need to do, start from the simplest but start and keep ticking.
  2. Don't think about the perfect weapon and the best position, just look at the corner of the eye of your target and shoot from whatever you have and wherever you are standing.
  3. Focus on ending your task, don't focus on starting it.
  4. Keep minimal expectations so that fear of failures doesn't make you weak even before you start.
  5. Don't over think, limit your thinking time and maximize you're doing time.

The Feynman Technique Model to learn better

The Feynman Technique is a  Mental Model  named after  Richard Feynman , a Nobel Prize Winning Physicist. It is designed as a technique to help you learn pretty much learn anything - so understand concepts you don't really get, remember stuff you have already learnt, or study more efficiently. The Feynman Technique was actually a big inspiration for this blog - I try and apply this to a lot of the concepts and Mental Models that I write about. The technique can be broken down into four easy steps, but first a quick video from  Scott Young  that sums it up very simply. Learn Faster with the Feynman Technique  So now for a recap of the steps: Step 1 Write the name of the concept at the top of a blank piece of paper. Step 2 Write down an explanation of the concept on the page. Use plain English. Pretend you are teaching it to someone else (e.g a new student). This should highlight what you understand, but more importantly ...

How can you improve your life?

The 18 unconventional ways to elevate your consciousness, expand your influence and ultimately improve your life. Have sex.  There's something unflinchingly "human” about a sexual experience. It builds something within you that connects deeply to nature. A confidence is built. From a person who went stretches- sometimes over a year- without having sex due to deeply rooted sexual anxieties (fear of climaxing too quick, that I wasn't “good enough” in bed, distaste of one-night-encounters etc) rediscovering the feeling you get in your life while being sexually active has really made a positive impact. Introduce yourself to anyone and everyone.  Human beings are social creatures by nature. With that in mind, it is imperative to make your presence known in any room you're in. Don't you hate that feeling when you're at a party or gathering, you go there with a friend and the friend doesn't introduce you to anyone? It sucks. Extreme responsibility is needed on y...

What is life too short for?

Spending time  in damaging relationships  — whether its parents, partner or friends, put yourself first. Trying  to please everyone  — by doing meaningless favors, making decisions based on other’s opinion, etc. Pursuing  a career that you don’t care  about — to make your parents happy or to fit into society. Procrastination —  waiting for the day  when you will finally start crushing your goals. Avoiding pain  — not taking risks, staying in your comfort zone, not working enough, etc. Unconsciously watching Tv, movies, social media — trying to  escape the reality  of your life. Never growing as a person, realizing your potential — just  being okay with a mediocre you. You wouldn’t give away your money for free, then why do you give away your time — giving it away to  people you don’t like. Working a 9–5  job that you hate  but never making efforts to get out of it. Above all, not pursuing true joy and f...
