Stop these bad habits to succeed in life

1. Waking Up Early
If you are currently waking up at 5 or 6 a.m. and running off of only 5–6 hours of sleep… STOP.
I don’t care if Richard Branson and Gary Vee wake up at 5 a.m.
If you aren’t getting at least 8 hours of sleep a night, then you are killing your brain and ruining your chances of achieving the success that you desire.
Sleep in and make sure you’re getting enough sleep to feel sufficiently rested and charged for the day.
I promise you that having only 16 hours a day at 90% capacity is better than having 18–20 hours a day at 50%.
Get your zzz’s and thank me later.
2. Caring Too Much
This is one of the worst habits of all.
Quite simply, most people care too much about far too many things.
We care about the car we drive, the brand of shoes that we wear, the opinions of people at the grocery store, our bosses bad day, and what the latest CNN report says about Trump.
But why?
Do ANY of these things really matter in the long run?
Does it really make a difference if you wear Nikes or a generic brand of shoes?
NO!
So chill out and stop caring about things that don’t matter.
In the big scheme of things, being healthy, happy, wealthy, and having love are the only things that truly matter to having a great life.
So if something doesn’t contribute to one of those four pillars of life… Fugget about it!
3. Saving for a Rainy Day
You’ve been told your whole life that you should “Save for a rainy day”.
That you should have an emergency fund and sock away at least $1,000 to cover big expenses.
And you’ve been told right… Sort of.
While I don’t deny that it’s important to have an emergency fund and ideally have 3–6 months of living expenses in a savings account, your goal should not be to save for a “Rainy Day”.
Your goal should be to save money so that you can invest it into cash producing assets to grow your wealth.
What do you think is better?
Having $1,000 in a savings account earning 0.001% interest a year?
Or investing $1,000 into a high level coaching program that will help you generate $20,000 in additional revenue each year?
When you do the math, the answer is obvious.
4. Reading Books
Before you get your pants in a twist, hear me out.
I’m NOT saying that you shouldn’t educate yourself and commit to learning whenever possible.
But I am saying that there is a very distinct difference between reading books and using books.
Most people do the former.
They pick out random books in the self help section and read them every day because they think it will make them successful.
At the end of the year, they’ve read 52 books that say, more or less, the same thing but they haven’t moved their life forward at all.
Instead, use books.
Identify the biggest challenges in your life that you DON’T KNOW how to solve and then buy books on those specific topics.
Implement what you learn immediately instead of mentally masturbating to the ideas that you read.
Use books and take action on them.
“Reading” won’t do crap.
5. Working Too Hard
Yes, this is a bad habit and it’s just as dangerous as smoking or drinking.
When you work too hard too frequently you will burn yourself out and the quality of your work will suffer.
Working 16 hours a day is the epitome of laziness.
There are plenty of people who have built 6, 7, and even 8-figure businesses working only 50 hours a week.
Be more selective about how you spend your time and only work on what’s important.
Doing too much is a sure fire recipe for burn out and regret.
6. Being Too Nice
I’m going to let you in on a little secret.
There are a lot of ass holes in the world. (*gasp*)
Yet, for some inexplicable reason, people everywhere seem to be content to roll over and supplicate to manipulative and unethical individuals.
If this is you… STOP IT!
You don’t need to be nice to everybody all the time.
Some people deserve a single finger salute and an invitation to promptly get the f*ck out of your life.
You don’t owe it to anyone to be nice and agreeable if they’re not reciprocating.
Learn to say “No”. Prioritize yourself. And don’t allow other people to act inappropriately towards you.
If someone steps over a line, call them out on it and put them in their place.
7. Lying
I don’t just mean telling a non truth.
When I use the term “lying” I’m referring to any and every time that you don’t tell the whole truth.
We have habituated lying in our society.
We tell our spouses that we’re “Fine” even when the relationship is suffocating us and making us want to jump out of a fourth story window.
We tell our bosses that it’s “No Biggie” to come into the office on Saturday even though it’s the fourth week he’s asked this in a row and it’s clearly unfair.
We hide our truth at every turn.
Why?
Because it’s easy.
But if you want to live a great life, not just an easy one, then you must learn to tell the truth with compassion all the time.
This doesn’t mean that you need to go out of your way to be mean or say hurtfully true things.
It does mean that you should speak the truth in your conversations and never hold back for fear of hurting someone’s feelings.
Trust me, being honest, even brutally honest, with someone will benefit you both in the long run.
Pretending that things are ok when they aren’t is a surefire recipe for a life of regret.
